NYC Greek Coffee Cup
My best friend and I have a tradition of treating ourselves to a fancy dinner during the holidays. While engaging in this festive tradition last December, our conversation stopped when coffee arrived with dessert. You see, what was placed on our table wasn't a sleek, delicate white coffee cup that one might expect from an upscale dining establishment. No my friends. Coffee arrived in a ceramic NYC greek coffee cup.
My friend and I took one look at each other and immediately knew what we had to do. We motioned for our server. Did he know where the cup was from? Sadly no. Would we like to take him up on his offer to speak with the manager? Why yes, yes we would. The manager soon appeared at our table, and with no hesitation or embarrassment, I asked if I could buy the cup from him right then and there. Again, sadly no. But, he was kind enough to tell me where I could acquire one of my very own. (My friend and I may or may not have looked at purses to gauge whether the cup would fit.)
That beautifully designed NYC icon arrived at my doorstep a few weeks later, and I have been happily serving up coffee at home ever since.
