Chez Genèse
The name of this website hints at my love of French culture. I’ve often wondered if I was a Parisian mademoiselle in a former life. Or if there’s still time to be one in this life?
Be still my French-loving heart upon learning about Chez Genèse in downtown Greensboro—a French-inspired restaurant featuring a cozy atmosphere, delightful yet unpretentious food, on a mission to advocate for and raise awareness about people living (and thriving) with disabilities. J’adore!
Distance prevents me from eating at Chez Genèse as often as I would like. However, I take advantage of every opportunity I can to eat there. Rumor has it I left a work conference early to partake in a little déjeuner there last fall. And on a recent road trip to Charlotte, I made a slight detour into Greensboro to enjoy an egg and gruyère sandwich on a rosemary biscuit—certainly a step above my typical road trip fare.
I’m looking forward to my next visit to Chez Genèse. Maybe there’s a work conference coming up nearby? ;)
Escazú Peanut Butter Hot Chocolate
This whole site is about me sharing my favorite things. But if I had to pick my favorite favorites, Escazú’s peanut butter hot chocolate would be on that list. Escazú Chocolates, based in North Carolina, offers many delectable treats, but my weekly occasional go-to is the peanut butter hot chocolate.
For most people, hot chocolate is a treat enjoyed primarily during the fall and winter. However, this gal drinks Escazú’s peanut butter hot chocolate all. year. long. 95 degrees outside with high humidity? I’ll have a peanut butter hot chocolate, please and thank you.
Escazú offers an iced version, and while also delicious, I slurp it up faster than the ladies at Escazú can say here comes April again! The hot peanut butter hot chocolate, in all its rich, creamy gloriousness, begs to be savored. And savor I do.
Fritz Coffee
I was immediately taken with the packaging when I first encountered Fritz Coffee two years ago at my favorite local café. The vibrant colors! The great designs! That adorable seal with his cup of coffee!
My local café has featured Fritz as their monthly coffee roaster a few times since then. Fritz isn’t the easiest to come by, as it’s produced in South Korea—a long way from North Carolina! Each opportunity I get, I bring a piece (or two) of Fritz home with me. Bags of coffee. A mug. A poster…which I had professionally framed. It proudly hangs in my kitchen and endures quizzical looks and comments from curious visitors.
Bags of Fritz Coffee assume their rightful place on my kitchen counter. Why would I stash away these small works of art that bring a smile to my face? And in case you’re wondering, Fritz Coffee not only looks good, it tastes good, too.
